Section I deals with the general aspects such as history-taking and outline of differential diagnosis. Section II highlights basic clinical examinations and Section III deals with specialized ophthalmic procedures. The first edition of the book was very popular, besides the MBBS students, amongst the PG students all over the country from whom I received a number of requests to include the newer investigations and ophthalmic instruments in the second edition. Considering trauma a common problem, which needs immediate attention, the same has also been included. Finally, this book will be useful "as a guide manual" to the medical students, ophthalmic residents in training, medical officers at primary health centre and casualty, optometrists, orthoptists as well as to practising ophthalmologists.
